Product Overview
A feature-rich cellular HAT for Raspberry Pi providing LTE Cat-1, 3G and 2G communication together with GNSS positioning. It supports dial-up, phone calls, SMS, TCP, UDP, HTTP and FTP, and can also be driven from other hosts such as Arduino or STM32 over UART.
Key Features
| Feature | Benefit |
|---|---|
| LTE Cat-1 / 3G / 2G | Falls back to older networks where 4G is weak |
| GPS, BeiDou, GLONASS and LBS | Positioning even in difficult conditions |
| Calls, SMS, TCP, UDP, DTMF, HTTP and FTP | Voice, messaging and internet protocols built in |
| USB and CP2102 USB-to-UART | Connect to a Pi or a PC over USB |
| UART pins for Arduino / STM32 | Also works with microcontrollers |
| Audio jack for voice calls | Make and answer calls with a headset |
| SIM slot (1.8 V / 3 V) and TF card slot | Standard SIMs plus local storage |
| Status LEDs | See network and power state at a glance |
Applications
| Application Area | Example Projects |
|---|---|
| IoT gateways | Sending sensor data where there is no Wi-Fi |
| Vehicle tracking | GNSS positions sent over mobile data |
| Remote monitoring | Water tanks, generators, solar sites and farms |
| Alerts | SMS notifications from a Raspberry Pi |
| Agriculture | Field sensors and irrigation control |
Benefits
Connect anywhere
Mobile networks reach sites far from Wi-Fi or wired internet.
Location built in
The GNSS receiver adds position data for tracking projects.
Standard control
AT commands are well documented and work from Python or any serial terminal.

Why Choose This Product?
It’s the most complete cellular option in the range: 4G with 3G/2G fallback, GNSS, voice calls and support for non-Raspberry Pi hosts.
Beginner Use Cases
- Send an SMS from a Raspberry Pi
- Read your GPS position
- Log location to a file
- Make a remote temperature alert
Professional Use Cases
- Fleet and asset trackers
- Remote telemetry for utilities
- Off-grid IoT gateways
- Field-deployed data loggers
Please Note
- Raspberry Pi and SIM card are not included
- Voice calls and SMS use AT commands, with the onboard audio jack for a headset
- Also works with the NVIDIA Jetson Nano 40-pin header
Which Cellular Module Should I Choose?
- Waveshare A7670E — 4G LTE Cat-1 plus GNSS positioning, with LTE and GNSS antennas in the box.
- Waveshare SIM7600E-H — 4G LTE Cat-1 with 3G/2G fallback, GNSS and a headphone jack for voice calls.
